Liquid silicone specially recommended for making prototyping molds in an easy and intuitive way.
Preparation:
The surface of the original must be clean and free of residue.
If the original is porous, use a suitable release agent. In a clean container, pour 100 parts by weight of Silicone A and 5 parts by weight of catalyst B, mix both components until completely dispersed. It can be mixed manually or with the help of a mechanical stirrer.
It is very important to remove the air by placing the mixture in a vacuum chamber, when you see that there are no bubbles you can use it. To remember that when making a vacuum there is an increase in volume (3 to 5 times) so it is convenient to use a container that is large enough.
* If you do not have a vacuum equipment, it can be applied on the piece, with a brush , a first layer of mixture 1 or 2 mm thick. Wait until the surface is free of bubbles.
Application and curing:
Pour the Silicone Catalyst mixture as soon as possible on the original. Avoid air occlusions. At room temperature (22-24ºC) the material will cure within 18-24h.
* Depending on needs, faster catalysts can be used. If the working temperature is much lower, the curing time will be somewhat longer.
