It is suitable for direct flame, torch castings.
It has high strength and durability and is used to melt the most commonly used metals in jewelry such as gold, silver and various alloys.
Refractory ceramic crucibles must be cured prior to use with flux, borax and/or boric acid until vitrified.
When it is heated for the first time, it must be done progressively to remove moisture, preventing it from cracking.
